• Key Responsibilities:
To stay with a foreign volunteer for the duration of the assignment in the field and be present during all working hours.
Translate all conversation between the host and the volunteer including trainings and casual conversation.
Reproduce written documents from Swahili to English and English to Swahili clearly, accurately and in style intended by the volunteer/host.
Become familiar with technical language and terminology so as to keep the true meaning of the translation.
Being able to understand the culture of the targeted audience and convey the information in a way that will be understood.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Graduates holding any bachelor degree.
• High level of English and Swahili in both spoken and written, strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to communicate verbally and literally in a clear and concise manner
• Excellent computer knowledge, i.e. proficiency on Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Ability to work under deadlines, pressure and confidentiality
• Ability to remain neutral and free of bias
• Rich in vocabulary, accuracy and attention to details
• Knowledge on Finance and Accounts will be an added advantage
• Experience working with English & Swahili native speaking people will be a highly added advantage
